Algebraic Expressions

An algebraic expression is a way of writing something using symbols.

Example

If I went to a shop and bought 2 apples and 3 bananas, I could express this as:

2 × a + 3 × b
apple apple   banana banana banana

This is usually written as:

2a + 3b

(You could choose any letters you like.)
