Rules for Collecting Like Terms
- Collect 'like' terms e.g. a's, b's, x's, y's , ordinary numbers etc..
- Note that x and x2 are not like terms.
- Note that xy and yx are like terms.
- Take note of the sign i.e. + or - in front of each term.
- Simplify as much as you can.
