Multiplying Complex Numbers

This works just like multiplying out brackets. Expand brackets similar to quadratics (see Unit 1) then collect and combine like terms.

Example

(-3 + 3i)(5 + 2i) = -15 -6i + 15i + 6i2 which can be simplified to 

9i - 21 

(Remember that i2 = -1)
