Decimal Places

To give a number correct to a specified number of decimal places:

  • Look at the figure in the next decimal place.
  • If it is less than 5 round down.
  • If it is 5 or more round up.

Worked example

467.9064 = 467.9 (to 1 d.p)

= 467.91 (to 2 d.p)

= 467.906 ( to 3 d.p)
