Evaluating journal articles

After searching on NORA Power Search, or using a subject-specific database, you may have found an article or a series of articles from what you consider to be good journals but you need to also check whether a specific article is of good quality.

The PACO Method may help you. It is a quick, do-it-yourself checklist of things to consider when evaluating articles and their suitability for your work. Think:

  • Purpose and content
  • Authority
  • Currency
  • Objectivity
